He thinks that flying is fun. We got on the plane to fly back home from Indy and he was laughing and smiling at everyone and touching a variety of different heads as we made our way to our seats. I got a lot of pleasure out of seeing one man get mad when Leo touched his hair. I said "oh! I'm so sorry!" but I was thrilled. He needed his head touched.
Then every one around where we sat interacted with Leo. The older lady across the aisle immediately said "if you need any help--you just ask". And then the guy sitting in the middle seat asked if he could hold Leo. And I said yes. He held Leo a lot during the flight. Leo liked him because he was a big friendly black dude who looked like a football player. He kept putting his earphones on Leo's head during the flight. A lot. Like a few more times than I would have liked. I asked him what music was on his IPOD and he said "Kenny G". I made it clear that I was against easy listening music for my child but he didn't get the joke. Or maybe he just didn't like it.
I thought that every one on the plane was being so nice to me because they saw me crying when I first sat down in my seat. Leaving my families was sad. I felt like I should have felt when I left Indiana to move to Amsterdam. But back in my early 20's--I wasn't crying when the plane took off--I was "so long suckers". I can remember the girl seated next to me who was horrified that I was leaving my family for so long. "I could never do that!! I could never be so far away from my family!" and she got upset like I was going to make her do it anyway. But this time I felt the sadness of being so far away--I felt sad for Leo because he doesn't have any family in California. But not sad enough to move. Just sad enough to write in my blog how sad I was. Am. About it.
The trip was wonderful. Leo ingested a lot of cat and dog hair and he loved it. He was so loved on--It made all the schlepping of his stuff from house to house worth it. And while everyone loved and enjoyed Leo doing such mind blowing things as sitting up-laughing-blinking his eyes and smiling--I laid like a lump on the couch waiting to be asked if i'd like 'something to drink' wherever I went. Except for at Danza and Matts--I had to get my own drink there.
Leo ate bread for the first time--really munched down on it at Leslies--and at my nephew Bens apartment. I'm so glad that Leo's first bagel was from the best bagels in Indiana-Bagel Fair.
We had an amazing time at Rob and Debbie's house too--I had no idea that they had such a nice guest house. I'm going to visit there more often now. Plus the fact that their granddaughter said I looked like the 'lady from "Marley and Me". I've decided not to find out if Kathy Bates was in that movie. This same granddaughter-Grace--asked me twice "WHO ARE YOU?" until her sister yelled "I told you!! She's grandpa Lilly's daughter from before he was married to Grandma!!!"
I will write more later--my computer is running out of batteries....
