HE WILL WEIGH 500 POUNDS BY THIRD GRADE

If he's lucky. Leo is 7 weeks old now and he smiles and he makes noises so cute I could pass out.

I start rehearsals for a show that I'm doing in New Jersey (and Vermont-and Portland and Seattle) the first week of feb and I don't understand how somebody else who can't breast feed him could ever take care of him...how is that possible? I don't get it. They will have to deal with things that I pretty much never deal with--him crying for longer than oh, 3 minutes. HOW DOES THIS WORK? The girl who is going to do it is a student of mine from when I was teaching and she's in her 30's and babysat for another friend of mine who has a newborn. (Stephanie Weir from MADTV everybody!)

I'm planning on going to the newborn support group at the PumpStation next week to ask about how I can better handle this. Please lord, let it be something that is way harder for me than for Carla--the babysitter. My fear is coming home and finding them both sobbing. And that she won't wash her filthy hands before she touches the precious baby.

Zach is back at school after his 8 month long winter break...I walked into his room where he was staying (where he was ALL DAY long..he slept every day until around 2pm. I asked him if he was suffering from depression and he didn't even get the connection. How refreshing.) and the room is a mess--I'm willing just to shut it off and never use it again. Until YOU GUYS ALL COME VISIT.

Speaking of visiting--we got our plane tickets---and arrive in Indy on Feb 25th in the evening and leave on march 1st in the late morning. Thank you sid and sharon for helping us make this trip!

Uhmmmm--what else? I guess that's it. I'm waiting for Leo to go to sleep so I can start cleaning the Zach room and start work on a new short story. The publisher that was interested in me doing another book is having a baby in March..I don't think I'll make the deadline of getting it a new proposal in before she births....but I've lied and said I would.
