Mother's Day was lovely. After about 2pm. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GIVE JEFF THE MEMO THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO COOK BREAKFAST IN BED AND SURROUND 'THE MOTHER' WITH ROSE PETALS AND PRESENTS FROM THE MOMENT SHE WAKES UP. The night before Mother's Day Jeff and I went out to dinner and he asked me what we should do in the AM and I said "oh..nothing. I'll take Leo in the morning since you've had him a lot and then you can take some time to get some stuff done." and he thought I meant it. So when I got up on Sunday he was like "well, I'm gonna go work out. And I'll do some shopping." Leo and I went to the zoo and watched zoo keepers clean a variety of different cages. Cuz I guess when you get there really early all the animals are still sleeping.
When I got home Jeff had gotten me flowers and candy. Which was great. It was. But the day made me realize that we don't watch enough TV where they show all the commercials with the mothers being woken up with breakfast in bed.
The great part of the day was visiting Jeff's cousins who live about 20 minutes from us on a farm!!! And they have a giant house--with goats and dogs and horses and teenage girls!! Leo dream day. And they made a wonderful dinner and we generally had a lovely time. I hinted that I'd like to some visit them every weekend by saying "man, I could come here every weekend."
So all in all it was a wonderful mother's day. I swear. And forget about me...what did I get all my mothers? ah-hem. nothing. so there's karma for you. I did call them..but wait..my mom wasn't home when I called so I counted talking to my dad as a mother's day call. I'M A MONSTER. who loves her mother. s.
