but NEW YORK CITY!!!! We spent my day off traveling to NYC this past monday to visit Grandma Dini and David--Jeff's parents. It was quite a whirlwind of trains and subways and a tiny hotel room where I spent a lot of time sitting on the bathroom floor eating peanuts and drinking a beer while Leo slept in the hotel room. Leo was a great traveler and it was a pretty rough travel day. He loved the trains and is the king of DO IT MYSELF. He should work at an arts and crafts store. He was shoving his way thru the crowds in NYC and wanted to walk up every single set of steps we came to by himself. If you try and pick him up so he isn't trampled he has a major tantrum that makes it impossible to carry him. We may have to return this monkey to the zoo cuz HE CRAZY.
We had dinner at Arturo's with Dini and David and it was a hopping restaurant with a live band. Leo walked right in and stood in front of the band and started dancing. We may have been exhausted by the traveling but Leo dug the NY pace. After he cried for an hour on the subway. He cried so hard when we woke him up from his nap to go to dinner with Dini and David that both Jeff and I agreed we'd never seen him so distraught and crabby. But we knew from experience that he was going to feel great when he got done sobbing. He just needed to purge some sadness. NY brings up memories and feelings even for people who have never spent any time there.
Speaking of memories...Jeff spent Monday night hanging at my ex husbands happening Tribeca bar. I do think that my divorce from Michael has been hardest on Jeff because he loves him so. I didn't go because I had to stay at home in the hotel and give Jeff a much needed break. It was fine. I just sat on the bathroom floor and played cribbage on my phone.
This is a hell week of a lot of shows and some of the audiences have gotten a bit more..serious. I had a audience member tell me that she couldn't laugh at the show because her greatest shame is that an ex of hers spent time in jail and it's not something she tells people so the show brought up some...memories. I was exhausted last night too and got freaked out that I was getting sick. BUT I'M NOT GETTING SICK..I AM STRONG I AM STRONG I AM STRONG.
Leo has been very fun to be around lately. Chatty chatty chatty. Happy and chatty. Every simple sentence he yells is cute to me. 'MAMMA I'M UNDER THE COVERS. MAMMA! UNDER THE COVERS!!" He says something like that and I run over to him and kiss him and tell him YES!! YES YOU ARE!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! and then I tell Jeff he said that and then I blog about it. I'm going to make him the lowest achieving child in history. The opposite of the Tiger Mom. I think that's a spoiled child. But he's not too spoiled. Sometimes I say things like "okay stop yelling--that's annoying." and I taught him to say "I am very crazy" today.
