I hope.....but the other day we were coming out of the pet store where I'd just bought some bird food and a woman was getting out of her van-minding her own business-and Leo stood right in front of her and said "She's fat". And I was DIZZY with panic to shut him up and all I could think of to say was "no..no..no" so then he thought I was debating him and he said "Yes. She's fat." When I finally got him in the car I explained to him that we don't say things about other peoples bodys...even though he may hear me constantly commenting on liking peoples hair, toenails and skin quality.
I'm shooting a show for Nick Jr that is a talk show about MOMS and I just told that story during our dinner break and the woman next said to me "damn, he's judging her and it's not right to judge." I said "he's not even three. I don't think he's judging he just saw a fat person and pointed it out. We live in Santa Monica-we don't get to see that many. It may not be a bad thing in his mind at all." He pointed her out the way he points to fire hydrants and points out what color they are.
The point is that it scared me because I realized that I have to start explaining things like that. Leo has been stressing me out in public a lot lately. Jeff was dropping him off at pre-school today and suddenly Leo grabbed a fence and started grunting like he was about to give birth. And he yelled at every kid and parent walking by "I WANT TO BE ALONE!" which is his way of saying he's taking a pooper. It a good technique. Try it.
Leo started pre-school 3 days ago. It was intense because it wasn't just a large yard with toys with vacant eyed little kids running around--it was SCHOOL. He had to sit and follow rules and watch other kids be taken out back to have sense talked into them when they couldn't handle sitting on their colored circles. Like prison wardens waiting for trouble those teachers are. It's a great school and it only took a few days before Leo was ready to be on his own. This school is expensive so they better teach him to stop yelling at me for my Iphone and then threatening to hit me with a baseball bat when I don't give it to him. (I had forgotten to feed him the day that happened).
Here's my blog post...it's been forever and I"m sorry. I have a lot to say actually so it's too bad that it's been too long. My nephew Ben came to visit-I started working on this TV show a bit-I got a Discover credit card-Jeff and Leo and I have been coughing non stop for a month. More later.
