Our Honeymoon

The day after we got married I left for San Francisco and Portland for shows. The night before we had dinner (thank you Grandpa David) at the Santa Monica Seafood Market which is down the street from us. That was lovely. Very fresh fish. The next morning I was ripped from our martial bliss and thrown into a comedy festival in Frisco. It was kind of a drag. I got food poisoning...my show on Friday night wasn't until almost midnight..my hotel was in the downtown area and there was no good food nearby (hence my food poisoning from the cracky hotel food) and then I was walking thru Chinatown and I saw a marching band coming towards me. I was like "oh--a parade!" and then I saw a hearse right after it. It was a chinese funeral. Before the hearse there was a family sitting in a convertible with a huge picture of an elderly lady--the photo was covered with all these fake flowers and they were throwing out what looked like fake money at people. It was so foreign. And mesmerizing. Then fifteen minutes later I found out from Diane that her mother-Grandma Emily had died. I stood and cried in front of the City Lights bookstore. Grandma Emily was an amazing lady. Traveling on her own her life to Europe...various boyfriends at a variety of old age homes...always surprisingly charming and hilarious whenever I saw her. And she was the welcoming party for when Mom and I first got reunited with Diane's family. And was the most loving "our baby is back" sweet woman. She did nothing but make us feel like us coming back into their lives was the most wonderful perfect miracle of a thing. And she made us french onion dip. Not completely stirred well but I don't want to remember the bad stuff. I was very sad to think of her gone.

Portland went really well. I wasn't as miserable without Leo and Jeff there. In San Francisco I felt like an old salesman who finally had decided 'enough with the road...it's not worth it' but in Portland I got excited about us going to live there for a little while.

I'm so tired as I'm writing this. I went to go see a drag show with my friend Kristin Chapman and her sister and Hilary last night. Kristin was like a drunk old Aunt during the show--she kept loudly asking me 'WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT?" and asking me if I wanted a beer. She looks and acts exactly the same as she did in high school. Which is kind of great and kind of embarrassing--just like high school. She pressured me to drink by doing things like asking me what I wanted to drink--how dare she. so i'm hung over today. Which somehow made it easier to talk to the other parents on the playground.

Jeff is wearing a wedding ring now. We used money from my parents to buy one for him. I like my engagement ring and couldn't find a ring that I liked in time for the ceremony so we just got his.

I'm boring myself as I write this.

On Monday I shoot my episode of True Blood for HBO. I can't tell you anything else because I signed a confidentiality form. All I can say is that my character is disgusting. My "type". Which I know is hard to brag about at Bob Evans.

Leo is doing great. He's going to Kidnasium now--that's the big news. And he loves it. he just goes once a week--but I went with him on Friday and it was hilarious. He's the youngest in the class but keeps up really well. It's like a hour long birthday party or something. Playing and singing and jumping and climbing. The other mothers are kind of a drag. WHY DOES NOBODY HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR ABOUT THEIR KIDS? Well..I say nobody. some do. I made one joke about how Leo was going to be 'the best' in the class or he doesn't get lunch. I was ignored. Maybe everyone is busy watching their children. Like I should be.

I'm busy now with auditions...

my mom just called to pressure me to write more on the blog.

I forgot to mention how Jeff took care of Leo for about 5 days when I was gone. I told my Dad that he said "so it was just like normal. Jeff does everything." he's convinced that Jeff is raising Leo on his own. Which Jeff loves.

I don't have any photos to post because I left my camera charger somewhere in Indiana--along with my IPOD and our packet of DVD's.

so I'll download a little movie of Leo on his first pony ride. Stinking cute.
