So I woke up and braided my hair for the big VIRTUAL SHOWER that my sister's Lisa and Leslie made happen for me from Indianapolis...I don't know that braids are the best look for a pregnant face-but what's done is DONE. The party got started with the delivery of an edible bouquet from Lisa and Clay. Lovely...I sat down and prepared to eat it.

But then Jeff decided we needed to take it apart so we could keep the fruit FRESH and he had me take it apart so we could put in the refrigerator as soon as possible. When I unwrapped the bouquet there was a like a fruit bouquet maxi pad at the bottom. Or a diaper--very appropriate.

Jeff believes in using every part of the animal--like his native american brother and sisters--so he insisted on washing and keeping the kale that was used in the bouquet as filler. We also plan on eating the fruit diaper.

The shower got started...and to see so many people that I love there was pretty amazing. I'm drinking a seltzer with orange juice--I only had enough seltzer for one person so I asked if everyone else wouldn't mind not having anything to eat or drink. My mom has been incredibly generous and gave Leo and I a variety of adorable clothing a jogging stroller (to get my girlish figure back ASAP)....she's a spoiling Grandmother.
My mom started asking me if I could feel Leo moving a lot...

So I let her feel....and of course he didn't move at all...he's not show-folk like his parents.

Rob-in the purple made a joke about being the only guy there...but it was obviously not a big deal. The first gift I got was from my sister Lisa and my nephew Clay--a 'baby's first year calender". Which is something I forgot to ask for...but I love and need it. I got a little emotional after they gave it to me...

Next...cousin Kathy got me a baby bathtub...which is a necessity.

She also gave us a gift certificate for BabysRUs....her generosity--again--made me all emotional. She's a relative on my Dad's side who I don't get to see much at all-so I was all touched that she was there..I kissed her on her face. I hope she doesnt' have a cold. or swine flu.

Lisa and Clay immediately jumped in the baby's tub..which was HILARIOUS.

My sister Leslie got Jeff and I this beautiful glass ball--for the baby to throw around when he's a few months old. Just kidding. She made it very clear that it was a NON TRADITIONAL baby gift that was for us. I love glass and I love balls. That sounds bad but I do have a lot of round globes and paper weights that I love..so it was perfect.

And she included some adorable booties and baby mittens--so Leo doesn't scratch himself and destroy his beauty before his first big commercial audition.

It was REALLY fun to have my old neighbor--Kay Ivcevich there. I love the baby frame...

And I love STROKE SOCKS...her genius son-Jay--who I just saw in NY--designs these socks himself and I had no idea that had small ones for kids--they are wonderful....

She also gave us a beautiful blanket for Leo--but Jeff was in the kitchen washing kale and missed that shot. Another surprise was having Anne Lunsford there. Anne and Tom are some of my favorite humans...and they got me some very very cute and very very needed newborn clothing. perfect. And Anne was so much huggier than I'd remember her being...I think baby's bring that out in people.

She complained that I hugged her too hard..but I think she liked it.

My mom told me to take a break and not to strain myself since I'm about to birth in five weeks. I told her I feel FINE. In fact, I feel happier than I have the entire pregnancy--knowing that it's about to be over...Lisa had apparently been drinking before she came over. Probably nervous because she was the 'host'.

Rob and Debbie--my birth father and his wife--got me a Target gift certificate to help us get whatever it is we haven't gotten yet but need...like diapers and maybe even a nursing chair. It would be nice to have one nice comfortable chair to sit in....

The two of them started remembering when they're children were born--and then they got all grateful and emotional about how full and wonderful their life is now with all their new grandchildren..and they started making out. it was sweet and a little uncomfortable.

The entire event was wonderful...and sweet and so nice to feel so much family and support around this baby. I'll be in Indiana around March to show you all the results of what I've been cooking...so thank you and much love from Jeff and I...and Leo.
So cute, thanks for hosting the shower at your own place. Nice that everyone could be there, but why am I the rat? lol, xoxox

It's so funny I could only read it in small sections at a time.
