For Jeff

Spending time with Leo is getting better and better.  He is sweet and funny and want to make people laugh.  I sort of pity him for this trait but I also know that it's better than being someone who wants to punch people.   He is getting easier to reason with as well.   He remembers people really well...he asked me the other day "do you remember Michael Chicken?"  which is a friend of ours-Michael Chick-who visited about 4 months ago.    There is a core sweetness to Leo....that there is in all kids....but I don't blog the others as much so forget them.

He walked up to a kid the other day and acted like he fell down and then got up and yelled "I'M A NUTBALL!!"  the kids all scattered and sort of ran from him.   I was having the exact same experience trying to bond with parents that day on the playground--it was our first day back from Portland and I think we were both feeling awkward.  It was pretty striking to see us both using the same techniques.

He's napping right now and I should be writing or washing dishes but I realized that I was looking forward to him waking up and wanted to document that feeling. Since it's not..oh...an EVERYDAY experience.

He said today "Dada works a lot".   Which is the first time he's mentioned Jeff for a while.   I talk about Jeff a lot with him but he never asks about him anymore because I can tell he just has accepted where he is.

This blog post is getting depressing.   I'm going to stop and go join Weight Watchers or write a poem.
